Learn how to facilitate the Can We Talk About Health and Safety? parent workshop series for parents of pre-teens. Can We Talk? is an innovative two-part face-to-face workshop for parents and guardians, as well as a six part web-based course for families to take together at home. Help parents learn how to communicate effectively with their children in grades 4 through 8 about:

o Bullying, Harassment & Violence;
o Puberty, Sexuality & Health;
o Internet Safety and Media Messages;
o Pressure, Stress and Success;
o Self-Esteem and Emotional Health;
o Alcohol, Tobacco & Drugs;

Can We Talk? workshops focus on strengthening family community about “the tough issues” and helping parents find community resources. Unlike some parent education programs that are designed to teach parents certain skills, Can We Talk? is designed to be a forum for dialogue and information sharing. Our facilitators have proven group facilitations skills and a strong interest in keeping kids safe and healthy. Our facilitators are not teaching parents how to parent, they are introducing parents to problems young people are facing and effective solutions. Facilitators will be instructed on using Can We Talk? activities, the e-courses, and how to identify community resources that support healthy families. You may preview the e-courses at:
