REACH: Social Networking for HIV Counseling Testing and Referral Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm Lucille Minuto and Paula Lopes September 26 and 29, 2008 9:00 am- 4:30 pm $40 fee This course provides HIV testing sites managers and staff with a thorough understanding of a Social Networks Strategy (SNS) for HIV counseling, testing and referrals (CTR). Social Networking Strategies is recommended by the CDC to increase the identification of new HIV cases especially among the populations not currently being reached with testing messages. The two (2) day course will give agencies the knowledge and skills needed for the successful implementation of SNS into existing CTR programs. At the conclusion of this training participants will be able to: 1. Define the Social Network Strategy (SNS) and differentiate it from other agency activities. 2. List the four phases of the SNS. 3. Describe three benefits of using the SNS to reach people at high risk of HIV infection 4. Develop a plan for implementing the SNS in their CTR programs. Intended Audience This training is intended for agencies interested in implementing a Social Networks Strategy (SNS) into their existing HIV counseling, testing and referral (CTR) programs, including program directors, supervisors and agency staff responsible for implementation.. In order to fully benefit from the implementation planning a team approach is recommended; at least two staff familiar with CTR need to attend the training. SNS will be incorporated into future funding opportunities for CTR by the Department of Health and agencies interested in participating in applying for funding are encouraged to attend.
